The candidate of Frente Amplio for Seville, Enrique Santiago, has underlined that "only the Frente Amplio" puts forward "clear" proposals to make effective the right to decent housing and to ensure public services capable of making sure that "nobody has to go without", in contrast to the "vagueness of other forces that claim to be of the left".
Along these lines, he has outlined two measures that Frente Amplio places at the center of this pre-campaign phase. The first consists of expropriating owners who accumulate more than 1,000 homes, with the aim of incorporating them into the social and affordable rental housing stock. The second involves raising the tax burden on large companies, investment funds and great fortunes, "for the rich", through the Tax the rich rate promoted by the Frente Amplio candidate, Ada Colau, who will visit the province on November 14 next, as the party indicated in a press release.
Accompanied by number two for Seville, Engracia Rivera, and by the provincial coordinator of Izquierda Unida in Seville, Ana Aranda, Santiago took part in the provincial municipalist meeting, convened to prepare the relevant electoral appointment of next May and which, given the circumstances, also served to define the role of IU representatives in the Seville city councils in facing the challenge of the general strike of 11N and the objective of reaffirming the results of the 23J of 2023.
The also general secretary of the PCE has likewise called for broad participation in the General Strike of November 11, stressing that it is aimed "against property speculators, public services and basic goods", as well as in defense of pay rises in the face of rising cost of living.
In addition, Enrique Santiago has warned of the threats that, in his view, PP and VOX launch against the public pension system and the right to sick leave, presenting them as weighty reasons to back the general strike, join the 11N mobilizations and support the Frente Amplio campaign.
