The president of the PP and candidate for the Presidency of the Government, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, will announce this Monday in Madrid his 'Contract with Spain', a text that will set the values and guiding principles that will orient the project of the Popular Party if it reaches the Palace of Moncloa after the general elections on November 29.

The event, which will be held at 12:00 hours in the Espacio Larra, has been designed avoiding giving relevance to the symbols of the party, such as logos, anthem, or flags of the PP. "It is not a campaign rally nor an acclamation but an event in which the candidate's commitment to a way of understanding politics is intended to be solemnized. The party's scenography will not be predominant," sources from the formation have explained to Europa Press.

From the PP, they define this document as "the founding act of the Spain that is coming" because it reflects the "commitment" to Spain of the candidate for the Presidency of the Government through "a series of priorities and principles." "It is the starting point of a political project. The candidate's letter of values," the same sources have added.

In the direction of 'Génova', they maintain that there are a series of traits and values of Feijóo that they want to highlight because they can be "useful" for those who "doubt" about their vote on the 29th, so that they have more elements of judgment. "Before asking for the vote in the campaign, we are going to explain what we want it for and why we want it," those sources have emphasized.

Although it is expected that representatives of civil society will attend, the focus of the event will be on Feijóo, who will deliver a speech of a "presidential" nature. "We do not seek for the protagonism to be in the stands but at the lectern, in the person who is going to show their values," members of his team have admitted.

The "manual of principles" of the leader of the PP

In recent months, Feijóo has insisted on the idea of "change" to open a new political stage, in which he has promised to promote a "national reconstruction" in Spain after eight years of Pedro Sánchez's Government. "These are not just any elections. The dilemma of November 29 is something more than choosing between two parties. It is about choosing between a project of personal ambition or a project for the country," he stated ten days ago before the Board of Directors of his party.

Before delving into the concrete proposals of the electoral program with which he will run for the polls, the popular leader wants to make known to the citizens his "manual of principles." "This broad manifesto is the founding act of the Spain that is coming," sources from the PP have emphasized.

In this way, Feijóo will explain this Monday how he conceives the relationship of the Government with the citizens and among the Spaniards themselves if he reaches Moncloa, what his vision of international relations is, how the bond with the administered should be, or what criteria should guide the allocation and priority of public spending, among other aspects.

Background: the contract with the Galicians in 2009

At the national headquarters of the PP, they remember that Feijóo already signed a 'Contract with Galicia' before the regional elections of 2009, in an event held in the Plaza del Obradoiro. "If he had breached it, he would not have been re-elected," sources from his environment have highlighted, emphasizing that he subsequently obtained three more absolute majorities in 2012, 2016, and 2020.

Now, the popular leader intends to formalize a similar commitment with all Spaniards. "In this empty and liquid Spain, of tweets that expire in 15 seconds, behind all that there has to be something that remains: the principles and values of a candidate," the same sources have insisted.
