The general secretary of Vox and top official of the party in Catalonia, Ignacio Garriga, has called for the Government not to limit itself to assuming political responsibilities for the Urda (Toledo) railway accident, but also for "criminal responsibilities, if there are any" to be made effective.
From Santa Coloma de Gramenet (Barcelona), where he attended to the media this Monday, he reiterated that Vox will appear in the case opened by the incident: "Vox is going to be pursuing those criminals who have allocated the money, instead of to the maintenance of the tracks, to hire mistresses or to generate any kind of corruption."
Along the same lines, he pointed out his expectations ahead of the appearance of the Minister of Transport in Congress: "Let us hope that tomorrow Mr. Puente comes out in the Congress appearance apologizing and saying that he is leaving. But that is not enough. We need the president of the Government to assume all political responsibilities."
When asked about the words of the president of the Generalitat, Salvador Illa, who has defended keeping the high-speed line between Barcelona and Madrid operational while the renovation works are carried out, Garriga replied that Illa "the least he can do is shut up".
The Vox leader has accused the PSOE of neglecting the maintenance of the railway network and has insisted that the lack of investment has direct consequences: "The dead of Urda and the dead of Adamuz carry the stamp of the PSOE, and we are not satisfied with Puente's resignation, we want the entire Government in full of the PSOE to leave the way it came."
AUDIT OF ALL THE KILOMETERS OF NETWORK
Garriga has stated that, if Vox obtains sufficient representation in the next general elections on November 29, his party will work to end "the fear that Spaniards today have of getting on a train".
As a central measure, he has proposed a comprehensive audit of all the kilometers of the Spanish railway network and has defended the need to "remove all the politicians that the PSOE has placed so that they have a little salary and replace them with real technicians and professionals".
He concluded with the commitment to recover the reliability of the Spanish railway system: "To tell the Spanish people that we will once again be the envy of the world in high speed, that we will once again arrive on time at our destinations and that, of course, we will arrive alive at our destinations".
