The MEP from the Comuns, Jaume Asens, has assured that he will feel "very happy" the day he can see the return from Brussels (Belgium) of the former president of the Generalitat and leader of Junts, Carles Puigdemont.
Asens expressed himself thus in the podcast 'La fi de l'exili' by Vilaweb, spread by Europa Press this Saturday, where he underlined that the return of Puigdemont and of the former councillors Toni Comín and Lluís Puig "means the end of a repressive cycle that should never have begun, and the normalization of a situation that was exceptional".
When asked about the statements of the former mayor of Barcelona and candidate of Frente Amplio for the general elections, Ada Colau, who maintained that Puigdemont would have difficulties walking through Catalunya after Junts' rejection of the housing decrees, Asens pointed out that he would have opted for another approach: "I will be very happy when I see Carles Puigdemont return to Catalunya, and if he does so with the housing decrees that his party brought down, I will be even happier," he stated.
In relation to the elections of November 29 and the left-wing landscape, he criticized the attitude of the lead candidate of ERC, Gabriel Rufián: "I think he made a maneuver. He and his party have made this unity impossible and make it much more difficult for there to be a left-wing majority in the next Congress".
Likewise, he added that he did not come to trust "at any time that Rufián was honest with this proposal" and, for that reason, he indicated that he did not feel deceived.
