The Minister of Inclusion, Social Security and Migration and Government spokesperson, Elma Saiz, has demanded "explanations" from the leader of the PP, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, stating that "he knew in April" that the Government of the Community of Madrid was looking for a "place" for the "temporary relocation" of its headquarters due to the remodeling works at the Royal Post Office.
The president of Madrid, Isabel Díaz Ayuso, rejected that the purchase of the penthouse responded to her "personal use" and linked it to a "comprehensive" reform of the headquarters of the regional Government. She also defended that the public company Planifica Madrid "buys and sells" properties throughout the year and that she is not aware of these operations because it is not her "competence to know," thus referring to the responsible councilors of each agency.
In an interview on 'La hora de La 1', reported by Europa Press, Saiz emphasized that "someone is lying" about the search and acquisition of this property, since in April "Feijóo knew" while Ayuso claimed to be unaware of this movement. "They will have to explain and clarify," insisted the minister, who also criticized that there is "speculation" about the sale of public assets to address the consequences of the wildfires.
The Government spokesperson admitted that she does not know which of the two PP leaders is "lying." "And that only leads one way, which is to resign," she added.
An extraordinary gravity in Feijóo's words
In an interview with Europa Press, the opposition leader recounted that in April he was summoned to an "informal" meeting with the Government of the Community of Madrid in Sol, where he was informed that "remodeling works" would be undertaken due to "problems" with the plumbing, the air conditioning system, and the state of conservation of the building. In that meeting, he was told that "places" were being "sought" to relocate during the works the "office of the president and the six, seven, or eight positions" of his "secretariat and Cabinet attention."
Feijóo later stressed that "the Community of Madrid has provided explanations that there is a decision for temporary relocation while the works are carried out," although he admitted that "it is evident" that the Heritage of the Community of Madrid "will have to explain why it bought a place that cannot be designated as an office with the intention of having an office located there." "That's all," he concluded.
For Minister Saiz, on the other hand, the words of the leader of the PP are insufficient and "worrisome." She has urged Feijóo, who "always positions himself" with the "accusing finger" against the Government of Spain, to direct his gaze "internally" towards the PP and be accountable to the citizens. "Because the revealing statements of Mr. Feijóo are of extraordinary seriousness," she emphasized.
