The president of the Government and general secretary of the PSOE, Pedro Sánchez, and the president of the Generalitat and first secretary of the PSC, Salvador Illa, participated this Sunday in the traditional Fiesta de la Rosa del PSC, held in the Pineda de Gavà (Barcelona). Both leaders addressed the attendees in one of the first party events after the summer break.

The event also marks Sánchez's return to party activities after the holidays and takes place on a day when the PSOE leader coincides in Catalonia with the president of the PP, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, who participated in an event of the popular party in Badalona.

During his appearance, Sánchez addressed various current political issues and referred, among other matters, to the decision of the Supreme Court regarding the so-called 'grandchildren's law'.

Sánchez describes the Supreme Court's decision as "serious"

The president of the Government has described as "serious" that the Supreme Court has accepted precautionary measures related to the application of the so-called 'grandchildren's law' and has stated that he does not agree with the decision.

In this context, Sánchez directed his criticisms at the PP and Vox for the appeals filed against the application of this regulation: "I am not going to forgive a PP and Vox that were the ones who raised this appeal", he stated during his speech.

The Supreme Court agreed to provisionally suspend the registration in the electoral roll of certain citizens who obtained Spanish nationality under the eighth additional provision of the Democratic Memory Law. The measure is provisional and is pending the resolution of the judicial procedure.

The issue affects the electoral effects of these nationalizations and does not imply, according to the published information about the resolution, the annulment of the Spanish nationality already granted.

Illa advocates for the PSC project

For his part, Illa also intervened during the Fiesta de la Rosa, in an event that the PSC uses to mark the beginning of the new political course and mobilize its bases.

The Catalan president has taken advantage of his intervention to demand that the PP and Vox stop "hindering" the political action of the socialists and has claimed the PSC project in Catalonia.

The day is celebrated in parallel to the PP event in Badalona, where Feijóo has participated alongside the leader of the Catalan PP, Alejandro Fernández, and the mayor of the city, Xavier García Albiol.
