The Digitalization Counselor of the Community of Madrid, Miguel López-Valverde, reiterated this Saturday that the response to the housing access problem lies in "construction, construction, and construction" and accused the President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, of "negligence" on this issue. "Where are the homes he has promised?" he posed.

In statements to the media from Venturada, and asked about the housing demonstration called in Madrid, he held the central Executive responsible for trying to "pit" citizens against small property owners, using as an example those who have a flat "because they inherited it" or acquired it with "the fruits of their labor over many years." "You cannot demonize," he insisted, calling for an increase in the housing stock to raise supply and lower prices.

López-Valverde also criticized that the burden of a situation he attributes to the central Government is "reverted" to the autonomous communities. In this sense, he questioned why the camping for housing remains at Puerta del Sol, in front of the headquarters of the Madrid Executive, and pointed out that those gathered should address the Ministry of Housing, "which is the competent authority regarding what is happening."

The counselor supported the contentious-administrative appeal presented by the Community of Madrid to request the dissolution of a concentration that he considers "totally illegal" and which, he has denounced, is damaging heritage elements such as the Royal Post Office and the statue of the Bear and the Strawberry Tree.

The head of the Administrative Court number 14 decided this Friday to refer the appeal to the Superior Court of Justice of Madrid (TSJM), understanding that it lacks objective competence to rule on it.

Regarding the events planned in Sol on the occasion of Hispanidad 2026, López-Valverde recalled that there is a "plan B" and that the Department of Culture, Tourism and Sports is already analyzing possible alternatives to relocate them if the camping continues. He directly attributed this situation to the Government delegate, Francisco Martín, who has been maintaining that any intervention in response to the protest must safeguard the right to assemble.
