The Permanent Deputation of the Congress meets this Wednesday to debate and vote on the initiative registered by the PP, which aims for President Pedro Sánchez to urgently appear in a Plenary and provide explanations about the migratory crisis that Ceuta is experiencing. In addition, the 'popular' request that ten other ministers be called, including the eight who already have a date set to attend the committee in the Lower House at the request of the Executive itself.

In its writing, the PP demands the urgent appearance of Sánchez to "report on the very serious situation that Ceuta is going through as a consequence of the increase in illegal entries of immigrants by sea through Morocco due to the impossibility of applying rejections at the border in that area; on the measures that he plans to adopt to guarantee the integrity of the Spanish and European Union borders and the effective exercise of national sovereignty; as well as to provide explanations about the Government's cooperation policy with Morocco regarding migratory control."

For this request to prosper, the PP needs the support or, at least, the abstention of two of the Government's usual partners. If the proposal goes ahead, an extraordinary Plenary would have to be scheduled before September 1, the date on which the ordinary session period officially begins.

Also in relation to the situation in Ceuta, the PP demands the urgent appearance of the ministers of the Interior, Fernando Grande-Marlaska; of Defense, Margarita Robles; of Foreign Affairs, José Manuel Albares; of Migrations, Elma Saiz; of Health, Mónica García; of Youth and Childhood, Sira Rego; and of Equality, Ana Redondo.

All of them are already summoned to appear in committee these days at the request of the Government, which formalized the requests after the demands of the opposition. The Executive has precisely relied on these summonses in Congress to reject the appearances that the PP promoted in the Senate.

Likewise, the Minister of the Presidency and Justice, Félix Bolaños, is scheduled to attend Congress this Thursday. The PP wants him to provide explanations for the replacement of a civil servant from the National Security Department of the Presidency of the Government who published data on the massive entry of immigrants on the agency's website before the Executive released its official figures.

'Leire Case', Almaraz, and European funds on the agenda

Furthermore, the PP intends for the Minister of the Interior to appear in Plenary to detail the extraordinary regularization process of migrants and for Marlaska himself and Minister Robles to jointly attend the Chamber in order to explain the continuity in their positions of the director of the Civil Guard, Mercedes González, and of its operational deputy director (DAO), despite being indicted in the "Leire case".

The 'populars' also demand an extraordinary appearance of the third vice president and minister for Ecological Transition, Sara Aagesen, in order to inform about the serious wildfires of the summer and about the extension of the useful life of the Almaraz nuclear power plant, in Cáceres, a decision that has received praise from the PP and Vox and criticism from Sumar and a good part of the parliamentary partners of the coalition Government.

Finally, the PP requests that the Permanent Deputation summon the first vice president and Minister of Economy, Carlos Cuerpo, to explain the ninth modification of the addendum of the Recovery and Resilience Mechanism of the Next Generation funds, approved at the end of July, "and its negative impact on the forecasts and commitments made by the Government, to generate a transformative impulse of the productive fabric, of the adaptation of our territory and of the well-being of families".
