The Council of Ministers has given this Tuesday the green light to a budget of 80 million euros for the "sustaining and management of obsolescences" of the surface ships and the "Galerna" class submarines that receive support from the Cartagena Arsenal, as stated in the references of the Council itself.
The measure aims to guarantee "the capacity for incidental, preventive, and corrective maintenance" of these naval units, considered essential to "ensure freedom of action," that is, the ability to "decide the employment of the Armed Forces and their systems" to "act in accordance" with the "interests" of Spain.
The execution period of this program will extend until December 31, 2029, unless the 80 million allocated are consumed beforehand.
18 million to reinforce the technical assistance of the Logistics Support Headquarters
Additionally, the Executive has approved the Framework Agreement for the contracting of "technical assistance" services intended for the Logistics Support Headquarters of the Navy (JAL), for an amount of 18,027,266.40 euros.
Through this framework, the JAL will be able to have "technical support" services that reinforce "its capabilities in the contractual and financial management of logistical operations" for the "sustaining" of the Navy.
In this way, the "administrative processing and the monitoring of information and documentation" is improved with the aim of ensuring the "continuity" of such operations and "the adequate planning and execution of the budget." The agreement will have an initial validity of one year, with the option to extend it for two additional years.
