The Minister of Inclusion, Social Security and Migration and current spokesperson for the Executive, Elma Saiz, has reiterated that President Pedro Sánchez will attend "of course" the Congress of Deputies to report on the migratory crisis in Ceuta, although she has not yet specified on what date this appearance will take place.
During the press conference following the Council of Ministers, Saiz explained that she "does not manage the agenda" of the head of the Executive, but has asked that no one should be "surprised" that the president goes to Parliament to provide explanations, since it is "usual" and has insisted that he is the president who has appeared before the Cortes the most times.
In parallel, the Minister of Territorial Policy and Democratic Memory, Ángel Víctor Torres, has confirmed that he will attend the National Security Commission next Thursday to specifically address the migratory crisis in the autonomous city, after having been appointed coordinator of the 'single command' responsible for the "return and repatriation" of migrants to their countries of origin.
In this scenario, the president of the Congress, the socialist Francina Armengol, has summoned the Permanent Deputation of the Chamber for Wednesday with the aim of putting to a vote whether President Pedro Sánchez should be called to appear in a monographic plenary to provide explanations about the situation in Ceuta.
The request for Sánchez to attend the hemicycle has been registered by the PP, which also intends to call ten other ministers in August, including the eight who already have a scheduled appearance in committee in Congress to account for their actions.
For her part, the co-coordinator of the Sumar Movement, Verónica Barbero, stated this Tuesday that she has no doubts that the president of the Government will attend Congress to address the migratory crisis in Ceuta "just like other ministers" and emphasized her commitment to "total transparency".
