The Executive of Castilla-La Mancha has enabled this year a fund of 1.5 million euros aimed at the Denominations of Origin and the Protected Geographical Indications, in order for the management bodies of the 41 quality figures recognized in the community to develop promotional actions for their products.

Thanks to these aids, organizations of agri-food operators, non-profit associations, and managing entities of quality labels are carrying out information and dissemination initiatives such as those celebrated today by the Protected Designation of Origin (DOP) La Mancha in Belmonte, focused on promoting the knowledge of their wines and, at the same time, reinforcing the prestige of the producing areas.

"The possibilities offered by these aids are very broad. They allow organizing product presentations, commercial missions, advertising campaigns, actions on social media, preparing informative material, days, workshops or tastings and contests like the ones we are enjoying today in Belmonte with the DOP La Mancha," explained the general director of Agri-food Production and Cooperatives, Elena Escobar, who has attended these events.

According to the Junta in a statement, these lines of support favor the launch of innovative proposals that connect agri-food promotion with culture, heritage, and tourism. A highlighted example is the VII National Quick Painting Contest Wines of La Mancha 2026, held this afternoon, "in which art serves as a showcase to disseminate the culture of wine and attract visitors."

As a prelude to the contest, this same Saturday a complementary activity has been developed, the Wine Gallery, in which a tasting of wines from the Denomination of Origin La Mancha has been offered for adults.

"In this way, the day is contributing to bringing the public closer to the values associated with this differentiated quality product, reinforcing its knowledge, promotion, and connection with the territory, objectives pursued by the aids called by the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock, and Rural Development," affirmed the general director.

These grants are part of the Strategic Plan of the Common Agricultural Policy 2023-2027 and are considered a key tool for the quality figures of Castilla-La Mancha to continue increasing their visibility and generating greater added value for winegrowers, producers, and makers.

Elena Escobar has encouraged benefiting from these calls "in a context where changes in consumption habits are opening new opportunities for our region, which is especially competitive in the production of fresher, lighter wines adapted to the new preferences of consumers. Wines that also fit with the potential of varieties that are so ours and emblematic like the Airén."

In this line, the regional head has emphasized that the autonomous community is not only the largest wine region in Spain by area, "but is also prepared to lead the adaptation of the sector to the new market trends with wines with greater differentiation and quality."

All of this is being made possible thanks to the work of wineries and cooperatives in Castilla-La Mancha, which "are demonstrating adaptability to evolve towards products that the national and international markets demand," she concluded.
