Félix Solís has reinforced its positioning in La Rioja after acquiring the brands Federico Paternina, Lagunilla, and Rioja Santiago in the public auction held as part of the liquidation process of the winery Marqués de la Concordia.

The group, which thus incorporates three historic Riojan brands closely linked to the development and prestige of the wines of the area, has emphasized that this acquisition represents a "new step" in the company's trajectory and strengthens its commitment to one of the main wine regions of Spain, as indicated in a statement.

With the addition of Paternina, Lagunilla, and Rioja Santiago, Félix Solís consolidates its position as one of the major wine groups in the country, with a strong presence in the main producing areas and leadership in denominations such as Toro, Valdepeñas, and Rueda.

In La Rioja, the company was already marketing references such as Castillo de Albai and Arnegui, to which these three centennial brands are now added, reinforcing its presence in the D.O. Calificada Rioja and expanding its offer for clients and consumers with a broader portfolio in the region.

"For us, incorporating Paternina, Lagunilla, and Rioja Santiago means much more than expanding our portfolio. They are three names that are part of the history of wine in La Rioja and deserve to continue playing a relevant role in the future of this region. We want to contribute our experience, our commercial capacity, and international vision to enhance all that legacy and help these brands continue to grow and reach new consumers and markets," explained the president and CEO of the winery, Félix Solís Yáñez.

Federico Paternina is considered one of the classic houses of La Rioja and for years was a reference in La Rioja Alta, contributing to the international recognition of its wines. Lagunilla, with more than a hundred years of history, is also closely linked to the Riojan winemaking tradition.

Rioja Santiago, founded in 1870, is among the oldest wineries of the denomination and is a name associated with the development of wine in La Rioja since the 19th century.

For Félix Solís, this acquisition is interpreted as an "opportunity to contribute to the future" of La Rioja with a long-term vision, combining respect for the history of these firms with the capacity for innovation and adaptation that has guided the evolution of the group for more than seven decades.

MURIEL WINES ACQUIRED MARQUÉS DE LA CONCORDIA

The operation has been framed within the bankruptcy procedure of United Wineries Estates, S.A., United Wineries, S.A. and Marqués de la Concordia Family of Wines, S.L., as detailed by IAG Auction, a specialized firm appointed by the bankruptcy administration to manage the sales process, which took place online at the end of July.

In that same process, the winery Muriel Wines, owner of brands such as Viña Muriel, Conde de los Andes or Valdecuriel, acquired the brand Marqués de la Concordia and all its linked registrations. The company emphasized that this acquisition represents a "new step" in its growth and diversification strategy of recent years and opens a "new stage" for a brand with a long history and notable recognition.

The Rioja winery indicated that, after the purchase, Marqués de la Concordia "will maintain its own identity." "From now on, we will work to deeply understand the asset and analyze its main opportunities," they explained.

In this scenario, Muriel Wines begins a "new stage" with the aim of respecting the essence of Marqués de la Concordia, enhancing its history, and working to develop all its future potential.
