The Table of the Parliament of Andalusia has agreed to the "ratification" of Manuel Carrasco Durán as the chief lawyer of the autonomous Chamber, a position for which he was already appointed in 2022 at the initiative of the then president of the Parliament, Jesús Aguirre (PP-A).

The Official Bulletin of the Parliament of Andalusia records this Wednesday, October 21, the agreement of the Table from the past day 14, consulted by Europa Press, by which "the ratification" of Manuel Carrasco Durán "as chief lawyer of the Parliament of Andalusia" is "approved".

This agreement is adopted "in accordance with the provisions of article 32.2 of the Chamber's Regulation, in accordance with what is provided in article 9 of the current Statute of Government and Internal Regime of the Parliament of Andalusia", and "at the proposal of the Presidency of the Chamber", a responsibility currently held by the PP-A deputy Ana Mestre.

Manuel Carrasco Durán holds a degree and a doctorate in Law from the University of Seville, an institution that also awarded him the Extraordinary Doctorate Award. He is an associate professor of Constitutional Law and has taught all subjects related to this discipline and Comparative Law, as was emphasized when he was appointed chief lawyer in 2022.

Between 2006 and 2019, he served as coordinator of the Master's Degree in Constitutional Law at the University of Seville, and also as vice-dean of Research and secretary of the Faculty of Law of that institution. Throughout his career, he has directed various doctoral theses and is the author of nearly a hundred works in multiple areas of constitutional law, including books, chapters of collective works, and articles in specialized journals.

The current chief lawyer of the Parliament has carried out research stays at the European University Institute and at the University of Pau et des Pays de l'Adour, in addition to teaching and giving lectures at various European and American universities.

Carrasco joined as a lawyer to the Parliament of Andalusia in 2019 and took over the leadership of the Legal Advisory of the Chamber in place of Ángel Marrero García-Rojo, who held the position of chief lawyer between 2020 and 2022.
