The Generalitat has imposed mobility restrictions in 20 counties on Saturday, October 3, due to the risk of torrential rains. The measures, in effect from 8:00 PM to 2:00 PM on Sunday, suspend activities and limit movements to essential ones.

The emergency also affects transportation: Rodalies and Ferrocarrils interrupt circulation and the Barcelona metro will close at midnight.

Mobility restrictions and suspension of activities

The Govern has suspended sports, cultural, and leisure activities, as well as markets, fairs, and outdoor commercial events.

Activities in flood-prone areas are also suspended, and teleworking is encouraged when possible.

The restrictions cover Alt Empordà, Alt Penedès, Baix Empordà, Baix Llobregat, Barcelonès, Garraf, Garrotxa, Gironès, Maresme, Pla de l'Estany, Selva, Vallès Occidental, Vallès Oriental, Alt Camp, Baix Camp, Baix Penedès, Osona, Ripollès, Tarragonès, and Moianès.

Rodalies and Ferrocarrils stopped at 8:00 PM

Rodalies has announced the suspension of its services from 8:00 PM, with exceptions: the RL3 and RL4 lines of Lleida and the section of the R16 between Tortosa and L'Hospitalet de l'Infant, as long as it is safe to circulate.

Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat also suspends circulation until 2:00 PM on Sunday, according to information released this afternoon.

The metro closes at midnight and plans to reopen at 5:00 AM

The Barcelona metro will end service at 12:00 AM and plans to resume it at 5:00 AM on Sunday. The usual continuous circulation on Saturday night is canceled.

Illa urges staying home during an exceptional episode

The president of the Generalitat, Salvador Illa, has urged the population to stay home. Civil Protection and Meteocat warn of an exceptional episode, with the possibility of torrential rains, strong gusts of wind, and tornadoes or waterspouts.

The forecast indicates accumulations exceeding 200 liters per square meter in about six hours. The phenomenon described by Illa as a "Mediterranean mini-hurricane" is due to a possible grouping of storms.
