The Parliament of Catalonia has decided this Wednesday to continue with the processing of the bill that regulates the provision of the Technical Vehicle Inspection (ITV) service in the Catalan territory, after rejecting the total amendments registered by PP and CUP.
The global amendments promoted by PP and CUP have not gone ahead as they only had the support of these two groups and Vox, while the rest of the parties represented in the plenary of the Chamber have opted to reject them.
The Minister of Business and Labor, Miquel Sàmper, has detailed that the legislative initiative establishes and orders the model for providing the ITV and updates the legal framework with the aim of providing "stability" to the regulatory system, increasing the available supply, and ensuring its universal nature.
Among other aspects, the project contemplates the free entry of new operators into the market and the liberalization of rates to boost competition; the expansion of the network of stations, facilitating the opening of new centers and eliminating the existing restrictions, and offers a wider range of alternatives to drivers when choosing where to undergo the inspection.
Furthermore, the text guarantees that the Generalitat will maintain control and comprehensive supervision of the service at all times.
