The Valencia Half Marathon this Sunday, October 25, requires reorganizing transportation through the city center, the university area, and the waterfront. The start is set for 08:25 on Avenida dels Tarongers, but the roadblocks begin earlier and some restrictions will continue after the runners have passed.
The keys to moving around are the diversion of surface access from the V-21, the interruptions of the tram on Tarongers, and the temporary suspension of nine EMT lines. The avenue for the start and finish will remain closed in the affected section until 21:00, according to municipal planning.
What time does the Half Marathon start and where does it go
The event, organized by the Sports Society Correcaminos, covers 21.0975 kilometers and distributes participants into different starts. The first begins at 08:25.
From Tarongers, the route heads towards Alfauir and Primat Reig, continues through the area of the old riverbed, and crosses towards the main roads. It then crosses streets in the center such as Guillem de Castro, la Pau, Xàtiva, and Colón, before moving towards the Alameda and the maritime area. The finish returns to Tarongers.
To locate a specific street, the organization provides a map of the route and the road occupations on its citizen information page. It is the most useful reference to check on which side of the circuit a residence, a parking lot, or the chosen cheering point is located.
Closed streets and schedule of the device
The schedules distinguish between access to the city, the route, and the start and finish area. The restrictions do not end simultaneously.
| Zone or service | Expected schedule | Impact |
|---|---|---|
| Surface access from the V-21 | 04:30–10:15 | Entry diverted through the tunnel, according to the Local Police device. |
| Tarongers: section V-21–Ingeniero Fausto Elío | Until 21:00 | Closure in both directions in the start and finish area. |
| Streets of the route | From 07:30; progressive cuts | Staggered reopening after the passage of the runners and the removal of the device. |
| Tram in Tarongers, lines 4 and 6 | 06:40–12:00 | Interruption of passage through the affected area; consult the specific route. |
| EMT: C1, C2, 19, 31, 40, 92, 93, 94 and 95 | During the race | Temporary suspension; other lines have modified itineraries. |
| First start | 08:25 | The test begins from the avenue dels Tarongers. |
Sources: City Council of Valencia and organization. Planning hours, subject to the development of the test. The end of the race does not imply the simultaneous reopening of all streets.
The Local Police warns that the streets will be recovered in phases, once the participants have passed and the elements of the device are removed. Therefore, the expected schedule for the end of the test does not equate to an automatic opening of the entire route.
In the accesses, there are also different windows. The police plan places the impact of the surface entry from the V-21 between 04:30 and 10:15, with traffic diverted through the tunnel.
Which EMT lines change and how to use the metro
The lines C1, C2, 19, 31, 40, 92, 93, 94 and 95 are temporarily suspended during the race. Others modify their itinerary, so a usual stop may not be operational even though the bus continues to circulate.
The police device recommends as metro alternatives the stations of Aragó and Amistat, Facultats and Benimaclet, depending on the destination. On the surface, it points out the EMT lines C3, 99 and 71 as options to approach the area.
The organization has also published the special services of the first hour and refers to the EMT and Metrovalencia websites to plan each route. It is advisable to consult the complete trip, including transfers and the final stretch on foot.
Where to park and how to cross the route
The municipal plan enables parking on Aragó avenue, Doctor Lluch, the University of Valencia, the Polytechnic University, and the Arena shopping center. University students have opening hours scheduled from 06:00 to 14:00; Arena, from 06:30 to 16:00. These hours correspond to the designated parking, not to the reopening of all nearby streets.
For spectators, the organization points out four crossing points: the underground passage of Xàtiva, Colón at number 8, Colón with Porta de la Mar, and Tarongers next to Lluís Peixó, before the Cactus roundabout.
The official map also allows for checking travel times, access, and entertainment points. Preparing the trip with that map avoids relying on a navigation route that crosses streets temporarily occupied by the race.
