The Civil Guard has arrested a 50-year-old man, who has already been sent to prison, as the alleged responsible for a crime of attempted homicide after deliberately running over another 64-year-old man on a street in Castilfalé (León). The victim suffered serious injuries to the head, so he had to be evacuated to the León Hospital Complex, where he remains hospitalized.
After the hit-and-run, the suspect left the area driving at high speed and without assisting the injured man at any time, according to sources from the Government Subdelegation in León.
There had been enmity between the two for more than a year, stemming from a previous incident involving an alleged assault that is pending trial. On the afternoon of the 10th, the alleged perpetrator argued with several relatives of the victim, to whom he made threats, and immediately afterwards drove a car he owned to the vicinity of the victim's home.
Once there, he intentionally rammed him with the car and also tried to run over a brother of the injured man, who managed to move out of the way in time and was not harmed. A patrol from the Alija del Infantado Post arrived at the scene, which immediately began efforts to locate the alleged aggressor.
The man was finally arrested at the Valencia de Don Juan Post (León), to which he had voluntarily presented himself. The People Team of the Organic Unit of Judicial Police took over the investigation and took the first statements from family members and witnesses, who identified the now-detained man and informed about the circumstances in which the events occurred.
As a result of these proceedings, he is charged with a crime of attempted homicide for the intentional hit-and-run of two people, resulting in one serious injury, as well as another crime against road safety for driving negligently and recklessly, endangering the lives of others.
The arrested man was placed at the disposal of the Instruction Section of the Court of Instance of León acting as Guard and, subsequently, transferred by the Civil Guard to the Villahierro Penitentiary Center in Mansilla de las Mulas (León).
