The magistrate in charge of Plaza 4 of the Instruction Section of the Badajoz Court of Instance has ordered the entry into provisional prison, communicated and without bail, of three of the four people arrested in the context of a supposed network dedicated to the sale of minors.
According to the committal order, this case investigates the possible sale of, at least, three children, the sons of one of the defendants, which would have taken place between 2023 and 2025 with the participation, knowledge, and intermediation of third parties.
Among those investigated are two men and two women. The measure of provisional prison has been imposed on the two men and one of the women, while the other has been released, according to sources from the Superior Court of Justice of Extremadura.
The court maintains active the proceedings for alleged crimes of alteration of filiation, abandonment of minors, document falsification, unlawful possession of weapons, and against traffic safety.
The three defendants for whom communicated and without-bail provisional prison has been ordered have exercised their constitutional right not to give a statement.
The arrests are part of a joint operation carried out by the National Police and the Guardia Civil into the alleged sale of minors, in which searches were carried out in Linares (Jaén), Montijo, and Badajoz. During the course of the investigation, six minors between 1 and 11 years old were located, all of them the children of the main person charged.
It should be recalled that, according to information provided by the National Police, two of the minors, aged one and three years, respectively, are under the guardianship of the Portuguese administrative authorities. Two others, under the guardianship of the Junta de Extremadura, and the last two are with family members and people in their environment.
It is emphasized that the mother of the minors had already been arrested previously by the Guardia Civil of Badajoz for related events that had already been brought before the courts in the town of Montijo.
At the first hours of this Thursday morning, the government delegate in Extremadura, Teresa Macías, clarified that, within the framework of this joint operation, six people had been detained, of whom, as she detailed, four were still being held, including the woman who could have been dedicated to selling her own children. Meanwhile, the other two people had already been released.
