The Provincial Court of Zamora has rejected the appeal filed by the president of the Provincial Council and the deputy responsible for the Sports area, filed against their summons to testify as investigated for an alleged crime of fraud in the granting of subsidies.

Both the president of the Provincial Council, Javier Faúndez, and the deputy delegate of Sports, Juan del Canto, have expressed their "absolute respect" and compliance with the order by which the Provincial Court of Zamora dismisses their request.

The provincial court understands that both officials have data and can clearly know the facts on which they will be questioned and prepare their defense, so it rejects the existence of a situation of material defenselessness.

Javier Faúndez and Juan del Canto must appear to testify on December 23, with "the willingness to collaborate" with Justice and to provide the appropriate explanations regarding their involvement in the files being investigated in this procedure, as they themselves have stated.

"We comply with the resolution of the Provincial Court with absolute respect and maintain our full confidence in Justice. We will appear calmly, assisted by our defense, to explain our actions and contribute to clarifying the facts," both provincial officials state.
