The Spanish Federation of Municipalities and Provinces (FEMP) has called for a minute of silence for the victims of the Urda train accident this Wednesday, October 28, at 20:00 hours, at the doors of the town halls. The call seeks to express the mourning of the municipalities and to accompany the families and loved ones of the deceased persons.
The town councils are announcing their adherence and specifying the meeting place. Although the general reference is the entrance of the town hall, some localities have indicated a square or a specific outdoor space. Therefore, before traveling it is advisable to consult the municipal notice.
What time is the minute of silence for the Urda accident
The general call is set for eight in the evening today, Wednesday, October 28. It is an act of tribute on the same day that the collision between two high-speed trains in the province of Toledo has occurred.
The proposal is aimed at town halls, provincial councils, island councils, and consells. The local entities that adhere organize their own acts, so it is not a single gathering in one city, but tributes spread across different municipalities.
Where to go: places confirmed by the town halls
Málaga has announced that the minute of silence will be held on the exterior steps of the Town Hall. The municipal corporation thus joins the call of the FEMP, after suspending its institutional agenda for this Wednesday.
In València, the meeting point will be the door of the Town Hall, also at 20:00. Santa Pola has specified the call in Plaza de la Glorieta and has expressly invited the public to participate.
Daimiel, Miguelturra, Alhama de Murcia and Caspe have likewise announced acts in front of their respective town halls. These are some of the confirmed adhesions, not a complete list of all participating municipalities.
| Municipality | Confirmed place | Time |
|---|---|---|
| Málaga | Exterior steps of the Town Hall | 20:00 |
| València | Doors of the Town Hall | 20:00 |
| Santa Pola | Plaza de la Glorieta | 20:00 |
| Daimiel | Doors of the Town Hall | 20:00 |
| Miguelturra | Doors of the Town Hall | 20:00 |

Madrid, Andalusia and Galicia join the tribute
The Federation of Municipalities of Madrid has supported the call by the FEMP and has conveyed its support to the affected families. The appeal proposes gatherings in the town hall squares at 20:00. The federation’s adherence does not replace the specific announcement by each municipality.
In Andalusia, the Andalusian Federation of Municipalities and Provinces has also backed the minute of silence before town halls and provincial councils.
The Galician Federation of Municipalities and Provinces has invited institutions, organizations and residents to take part before Galician town halls, as an expression of respect for the victims and solidarity with the affected people.
How to check your municipality’s call
The most precise reference is the town hall’s website or official profile. The announcement should indicate the date, the time and the meeting point: in some cases it will be the main door of the building and, in others, a nearby square.
The municipal calls consulted include invitations to the public. They are not only events reserved for public officials: they allow residents to express their support for the victims and their families.
It is also advisable to check the date of the posters that are shared. In València, for example, today’s event at 20:00 is different from the one scheduled for tomorrow, Thursday, October 29, at 12:00, on the occasion of the second anniversary of the dana. The City Council has announced that in that second tribute the victims of Urda will also be remembered.
A tribute to the victims and recognition of the emergency teams
The FEMP statement, reported by the Town Hall of Daimiel, conveys condolences to the families and loved ones of the deceased people and recognizes the work of the emergency services.
The federation has also made itself available to local entities to collaborate in the coordination of civil protection tasks and other needs arising from the tragedy.
