The Basque Security counselor, Bingen Zupiria, has detailed that for this coming weekend 25 demonstrations are registered in Euskadi and has warned of the presence of people who seek to "provoke disturbances". At the same time, he has assured that he does not know what "the 'Blocus' phenomenon" is, which has spread calls on social networks in the Basque Country, and has stressed that "the Police and Security Forces of the Spanish State are trying to analyze, both the incidents that have occurred, as well as this phenomenon that is occurring on networks and to which we do not know what it responds".
During the press conference presenting the seventh joint call of the Euskal Polizia, Zupiria was asked about these calls to mobilization and has underscored that, in the face of this scenario, "the Ertzaintza will do what it has to do".
According to what he explained, "like any father and citizen of this country, a lot of things have also come to me through social networks where supposedly people talk about groups that are going to burn the country, that are going to do I don't know how many things, that are going to attract I don't know what kind of people, but I don't know what we are talking about. In the face of that, the Ertzaintza will do what it has to do and will guarantee order in this society".
Warning in the face of the weekend calls
Zupiria has specified that for these days a total of 25 gatherings and marches are planned in different parts of Euskadi and has sent a message to those who organize them, by pointing out that "there may be people who come close and join different demonstrations with the objective of provoking disturbances".
After recalling that "we all have to assume the situation we are living through", he has insisted that "the Ertzaintza is going to guarantee the right of expression and the freedom of demonstration that we all have", but has called for "all of us to assume the responsibility that those demonstrations and those displays are developed in accordance with the objective for which they have been called and in accordance with the law".
