The bus has become one of the alternatives for travelers affected by the railway disruption between Madrid and Andalucía following the Urda accident. Socibus has announced that it will reinforce its routes with Andújar, Córdoba, Sevilla, Huelva and Cádiz through a progressive expansion of vehicles and seats depending on demand.

The measure makes it possible to increase the supply, but it does not guarantee that there will be a free seat at any time. To organize a trip, it is necessary to search for the specific journey, select the date and complete the reservation. The indicative durations also do not replace the timetable of the service finally contracted.

The main reference for the routes included in this guide is the Estación Sur de Autobuses de Madrid, in Méndez Álvaro. It is important to check that information on the ticket, especially if the traveler is in Atocha or arrives from the airport and needs to transfer before leaving.

What Socibus has announced

The reinforcement by Socibus is adapted to the evolution of travel requests. The company has communicated that it will incorporate more buses and seats as necessary on its connections between Madrid and the five mentioned Andalusian cities.

It has also announced an extension of the opening hours of its ticket offices to respond to the increase in inquiries. The consulted communication does not establish a fixed amount of additional seats for each departure or a single extraordinary timetable for all stations.

Therefore, it is useful to consult the sales channel again if an initial search does not offer a suitable option. That review makes it possible to detect possible additions, although it does not ensure that a vehicle will be added for a specific destination or time.

Routes from Madrid: stations and indicative duration

The sales sheets place the trips from Madrid at about three and a half hours for Andújar, four hours and forty minutes for Córdoba, slightly more than six hours for Sevilla, seven hours and fifteen minutes for Huelva and close to eight hours for Cádiz. These are route references: the exact time depends on the chosen service.

For Málaga, the consulted InterBus departures on the Omio distributor show durations of six and a half hours to seven hours and fifteen minutes from Estación Sur. These data describe scheduled services, not a check of available inventory.

Córdoba Estación Sur 4 h 40 min Check Madrid-Córdoba
Cádiz Estación Sur 7 h 55 min Check Madrid-Cádiz

Málaga: what reinforcement has been communicated

In Málaga, InterBus enabled an extraordinary departure toward Madrid at 13:45 on Wednesday, October 28, with four buses, according to the information published by Europa Press.

To travel on Thursday the 29th or during the following days, the reference should be the schedule that appears when selecting those dates. It is also advisable to check the direction of the trip: a reinforcement announced from Málaga does not by itself confirm an equivalent departure from Madrid at the same time.

Where the bus leaves from and where the trip ends

Madrid’s Estación Sur is located on Calle Méndez Álvaro, 83. Socibus also identifies a stop at Barajas terminal T1 within its network, but that does not mean that all tickets allow boarding at the airport. The valid point is the one that appears in the reservation.

In Seville, the route consulted arrives at Plaza de Armas. That detail is especially relevant for anyone who had planned to arrive by train and had organized a pickup at Santa Justa. Changing means of transport can also imply changing the place where family members, taxis, or later connections are waiting.

Before buying, it is advisable to check the arrival time in addition to the departure time. An overnight trip can end at dawn, when available local transport and pickup options are different.

What to do if no seats appear

The search should include the actual number of travelers and the final destination. If there are no tickets, other departures or dates can be compared, as long as they fit the needs of the trip. A connection with a transfer requires checking both legs and leaving enough margin between them.

It is also advisable to review the change and cancellation conditions before paying. If an alternative is booked while waiting for information from the rail operator, it is useful to know what would happen if it is ultimately not used.

The train ticket and the bus ticket must be kept together with the communications received. The purchase of a road seat does not automatically modify the rail reservation: any management concerning the latter must be done through the corresponding channels.
