Six months after participating in Veganuary, more than 82% of the people who responded to the survey carried out by the NGO states that they have reduced their consumption of animal-origin products by at least half. On World Veganism Day, Veganuary focuses on the beneficial and lasting impact of the shift to a plant-based diet

On the occasion of World Veganism Day, which is celebrated every November 1, the organization presents the results of the survey it carries out six months after Veganuary among people who have participated in the challenge. Seeking health benefits is one of the reasons that lead participants to try vegan eating during the month of January, along with concern for the welfare of animals and the environment in a context of climate emergency.

The biannual survey shows that:

● More than 82% state that they have reduced their consumption of animal-origin products by at least half, and 35% have eliminated them completely.

● 77% have noticed improvements in at least one aspect of their health.

● 61% say they feel more inspired when cooking.

● Among those who have not maintained a vegan diet after the challenge, 92% state that it is likely they will try it again in the future.

Around 30 million people tried eating vegan during the month of January 2026 worldwide and Veganuary is already preparing for its 2027 campaign, which it will launch during the month of December.

As for the participation of companies, every January Veganuary helps increase the visibility of plant-based options and drives innovation. Thus, more than 1,100 new products and menu options were launched on the occasion of the campaign in 2026, and 56% of the people surveyed stated that they had discovered new brands or products that they continue consuming regularly six months later.

"On World Vegan Day we want to remember the power of changing our diet, one of the most effective ways within our reach to respond to a climate crisis that is already leaving extreme weather phenomena, both in our country and in the rest of the world," says Estefanía Lozano, interim director of Veganuary in Spain. "But the emergency must not paralyze us, but rather encourage us to act. Veganuary 2027 is already just around the corner, and we will continue inspiring and accompanying millions of people to try veganism during the month of January, and beyond."
