Balenciaga Shipyard will carry out this Thursday the keel-laying ceremony for the first ship to be built since the shipyard resumed its activity, an event that symbolizes the start of a new era for these historic facilities in Zumaia (Gipuzkoa) after their integration into Safeen Drydocks, belonging to AD Ports Group.
The ceremony is expected to be attended by the Minister of Industry, Energy Transition and Sustainability, Mikel Jauregi, the CEO of Safeen Drydocks, Nelson MacKie, and the director of Balenciaga Shipyard, Santiago Bardal.
Various institutional and naval sector representatives, along with supplier companies and part of the shipyard's workforce, will also attend.
The event program includes a tour of the facilities to check on-site the progress of the construction work for the first ships corresponding to this new phase.
