BBVA has come to the market this Tuesday with a new issuance of a senior preferred green bond, denominated in euros and maturing in September 2033, as communicated by the financial entity itself.

The initial price of the placement has been set at "mid swap" --the midpoint between the buyer's and seller's price-- plus 100 basis points. Furthermore, the bank chaired by Carlos Torres has detailed that BBVA, Danske, ING, Natixis, and UBS are acting this time as placement entities for the operation.

This issuance is part of BBVA's financing plan for 2026 and represents the second green bond that the group launches so far this year. At the same time, it constitutes the seventh debt operation that the entity has carried out in the current fiscal year.

In January, BBVA placed 2 billion euros through a dual-tranche senior non-preferred (SNP) debt issuance, which was the largest operation in euros by the bank in the last 20 years.

Already in February, the entity returned to the market with a 2.5 billion dollar issuance in senior non-preferred debt, the largest carried out by BBVA in this currency.

Later, in April, the bank carried out another placement for 2.25 billion dollars through a dual-tranche operation: 1.25 billion dollars in senior non-preferred format and another 1 billion dollars in additional tier 1 (AT1) debt.

In June, BBVA executed two new operations: a senior non-preferred green issuance for 1.25 billion euros and another dual-tranche mortgage bond issuance for 2.25 billion euros, the first issuance of this type it had carried out since 2023. Finally, in August, the entity placed 2.3 billion dollars through a structured operation in three tranches.

With all this, up to and including the month of August, BBVA had issued 5.5 billion euros and 7.05 billion dollars through the mentioned operations.
