Binter has closed a financing agreement with a consortium formed by three of the main Spanish financial entities, Santander, CaixaBank, and BBVA, with the aim of boosting its fleet expansion plan for the coming years.
In the operation, the airline has relied on the legal advice of Deloitte and KPMG. The contract has been signed by the president of Binter, Rodolfo Núñez, and the vice president, Alfredo Morales, along with the representatives of the three banks.
According to the company detailed in a statement, this financial backing will allow for the allocation of 510 million dollars (455.6 million euros) for the acquisition of nine E195-E2 aircraft, whose delivery is scheduled to be staggered starting in 2027.
In this regard, the president of Binter, Rodolfo Núñez, has stated that these new acquisitions "respond to the airline's mission to guarantee the best" air connectivity for the Canary Islands, both within and outside the archipelago, with a "clear public service vocation that allows for continued contribution to the economic and social development" of the islands.
He also highlighted that Binter continues to bet on a type of aircraft "in line with the competitive positioning of the airline, offering a differential service and the best value proposition" for its customers.
For his part, the vice president of Binter, Alfredo Morales, has thanked "the trust, once again, of the main national banks in the fleet acquisition operations of the company," as it allows the airline to take its "way of flying to more and more destinations while maintaining" the essence. He also thanked the work carried out by the legal teams of Deloitte and KPMG.
Regarding the E195-E2, it is the largest model in the E-Jets E2 family from Embraer and stands out for its industry-leading "efficiency" and emission reduction. It is a next-generation aircraft that features a configuration of 132 seats, with a cabin that offers ample space between rows, with a 2x2 layout, "without the uncomfortable middle seat."
Once the units from this order arrive, Binter's fleet will be composed of 25 Embraer E195-E2 aircraft, allowing the airline to "continue ensuring a robust flight schedule, where regularity, reliability of the commercial program, excellence, and punctuality are a priority."
The new planes will be incorporated to "continue consolidating" the airline's commitment "to quality connectivity, consolidating the Canarias-Africa air hub, as well as expanding the flights between the islands that are already being operated with this model of aircraft during the most demanded hours" by passengers.
