GFT Technologies and Itaú Unibanco have launched a solution supported by artificial intelligence (AI) to move the bank's 'batch' systems to the cloud. In the initial phase of the project, this initiative has made it possible to cut migration time by up to 70% and speed up project execution by up to 3.3 times.
According to the information provided by the company, the model relies on the Batch2Cloud tool, created by GFT Technologies together with the financial institution and integrated into its generative AI platform Wynxx. This combination makes it possible to detect modernization opportunities, represent the complexity of the technological environment and calculate in a predictable and secure way the effort required for each migration.
The project is part of the modernization and cloud migration program initiated by the Brazilian bank in 2018, whose objective is to keep its systems up to date and ready to adopt new technologies that support current services and the creation of innovative products.
The technological roadmap is based on the use of AI agents to automate repetitive tasks and generate code, always under the supervision of the expert teams of GFT Technologies. These specialists retain control over technical decisions, architecture design and process governance, in order to ensure business continuity.
In the co-creation process, internal solutions from the bank were also integrated, such as "Code Understanding", developed by Zup Innovation --company of the banking group--, which is used to reinforce the existing artificial intelligence agents and allow a deeper examination of legacy code.
The global chief executive of GFT Technologies, Marco Santos, has underlined that this joint work with Itaú Unibanco makes clear how AI can become a native component of software engineering, by combining automation and expert knowledge to accelerate complex transformations in the financial sector.
For his part, the superintendence of technology of Itaú Unibanco, Douglas Santos, has emphasized that the updating of legacy systems and the move toward the cloud are central pillars of the bank's technological strategy, with the purpose of gaining agility for its clients without putting the institution's solidity at risk.
