Hitachi Rail Spain, in collaboration with Hitachi Rail Turkey, has signed a contract with the Turkish railway infrastructure operator (TCDD) to design, supply, install, and commission the signaling systems of tunnel 26 and the Bilecik depot, both located on the train line connecting Ankara with Istanbul.
According to the company, this action will allow TCDD to differentiate and independently manage high-speed traffic, conventional service, and freight trains in the affected area. At the same time, it will make it possible to shorten travel times from the current 20 minutes to 9, as well as increase capacity, safety, and availability of the railway network.
The scope of the contract includes the adaptation of the existing interlockings and traffic control center through new field equipment, the installation of additional switches and signals, as well as the expansion of the associated telecommunications infrastructure.
The company emphasized that the actions on the Ankara-Istanbul line are part of TCDD's commitment to advance in the management of railway operations and to promote the economic and social development of the country.
With this award, the company strengthens its position in the Turkish market, where it began its activity in 1987 and has since collaborated with the Ministry of Transport and TCDD on various railway systems contracts.
