The hotelier Hyatt announced this Tuesday the arrival of its brand Thompson Hotels in Italy with the opening of Thompson Rome, a hotel with 69 rooms owned and managed by AG Group and Rossifin Group, as detailed by the American company in a statement.

The establishment is located in a rehabilitated building from the 1930s on the central Via delle Botteghe Oscure, just a few steps from Piazza Venezia, the Roman Forum, the Pantheon, and the Colosseum. The property retains original architectural and historical elements, such as a marble staircase and pieces recovered from the Italian artist Gio Pomodoro.

The hotel offers 69 residential-style rooms, of which 20 are suites, including the 'Thompson Suite', which has 104 square meters.

In the gastronomic section, Thompson Rome incorporates three differentiated proposals: the Mediterranean cuisine restaurant 'LYVE Restaurant', led by chef Fabio Fioravanti, the rooftop 'LYVE Rooftop', and a 'Lobby Lounge' that serves as an informal meeting point for the hotel throughout the day.

The creative director of Hyatt Corporation, Amar Lalvani, explained that the project aims for the property "to feel like home in Rome" referencing the local heritage and its context. For his part, the general director of the hotel, Arturo Gómez, emphasized the establishment's intention to become a cultural meeting point through artistic residencies and collaborations with the creative community of the Italian capital.

Spaces for art, culture, and connection

The artistic program of Thompson Rome proposes a dialogue between the historical memory of the building and contemporary art. Located near the ancient Crypta Balbi, an example of the multiple layers of Rome's urban history, the hotel integrates into an area that for centuries has been a place of passage and exchange for merchants, pilgrims, artists, scholars, and travelers from all over the Mediterranean and Europe.

The artistic collection brings together works from creators linked to the Scuola Romana and the Scuola di Piazza del Popolo, alongside contemporary artists whose proposals reflect Rome's traditional cultural openness and its international connections, such as Francesco Del Drago, Giangaetano Patanè, and Guido Strazza.

The pieces, displayed both in the common areas and in the rooms, are conceived as an essential part of the guest experience and link the history of the place with the creative scene of present-day Rome.

In addition, a rotating program of artistic residencies will strengthen Thompson Rome's connection with the city's creative community through exhibitions, talks, and other cultural initiatives.
