The Minister for Digital Transformation and Public Function, Óscar López, defended this Sunday the need to have an Artificial Intelligence (AI) subjected to clear rules and at the "service of humanity."
In recent days, experts and executives from major tech companies in the sector, including the CEO of Anthropic, Dario Amodei, and the head of OpenAI, Sam Altman, have publicly warned about the danger posed by the improper use of artificial intelligence.
In this scenario, López emphasized on his social media that "innovation is compatible with regulation" and reiterated his commitment to promote "a trustworthy AI, at the service of humanity."
He also highlighted that "Spain is governing AI" and recalled several initiatives promoted by the Government or approved during the Spanish Presidency of the EU, such as the European Regulation on Artificial Intelligence, the prohibition of systems that generate sexual and pornographic 'deepfakes', or the Organic Law for the protection of minors in digital environments, among other measures.
"We are pleased that more and more voices from the industry itself are focusing on the safety of AI," concluded the minister.
