Meta Platforms has announced its intention to raise up to 95 billion dollars (84.782 billion euros) with the aim of funding its ambitious projects in artificial intelligence. To this end, the parent company of Facebook, Whatsapp, and Instagram will resort to several public offerings of common stock and the issuance of convertible preferred shares.
According to the documentation submitted, Meta plans to place around 35 billion dollars (31.236 billion euros) in the market through public offerings. This figure includes approximately 22.5 billion dollars (20.080 billion euros) in Class A common stock and about 12.5 billion dollars (11.156 billion euros) in depositary receipts backed by preferred shares.
In addition, the tech company has in its portfolio a market sale program (ATM) for an approximate amount of 60 billion dollars (53.546 billion euros) in Class C shares. This plan would not start until the first quarter of 2027, once this class of shares begins to trade. However, Meta has pointed out that it has not yet signed any specific agreement nor has it finalized the definitive size or specific conditions of said program.
The firm led by Mark Zuckerberg has indicated that Nvidia, Advanced Micro Devices (AMD), and Broadcom have expressed, "individually and not jointly," their willingness to buy up to a maximum of 5 billion dollars (4.462 billion euros) in Class A common stock included in the public offering, at the same price and under the same terms as the other investors. The company has insisted that "these expressions of interest do not constitute binding purchase agreements or commitments," so these companies may ultimately acquire more, less, or no Class A common stock in the operation.
In the third quarter of 2026, Meta recorded a net profit of 9.86 billion dollars (8.750 billion euros), which represents an increase of 264% compared to the same period of the previous year. Meanwhile, the company's revenues amounted to 64.601 billion dollars (57.653 billion euros), 26% more year-on-year.
Likewise, Meta has raised its capital expenditure forecasts, which it now places in a range of between 135,000 and 145,000 million dollars (from 120,480 to 129,404 million euros), reflecting the strong investment effort linked to its developments in artificial intelligence and the expansion of its technological infrastructure.
