The president of the United States, Donald Trump, has made public that he will offer a reward of one million dollars --880,000 euros-- to anyone who reports irregularities in the midterm elections and that, after the judicial investigation, the alleged "fraud" is proven and condemned.

"Anyone who reports electoral fraud in the past elections or in the upcoming midterm elections of 2026 will receive 1,000,000 dollars after the arrest and conviction of those responsible for the fraud," Trump explained in a message posted on social media.

The Republican leader has launched this proposal without clarifying which institution would assume the payment of the reward, nor what the specific requirements would be, nor the exact classification of the electoral fraud crime to which he refers.

Trump has insisted on numerous occasions that there was fraud in the 2020 presidential elections, in which he lost to Joe Biden, despite the fact that there is no judicial resolution that supports it.

The federal courts, the authorities of the different states, and his own Department of Justice confirmed the validity of those elections and rejected the complaints for lack of evidence.

The escalation of political tension resulting from the fraud accusations culminated on January 6, 2021, with the assault on the Capitol, when a crowd of Trump supporters violently stormed the seat of Congress to try to prevent the official certification of Biden's victory.
