Microsoft reported net profit of 36.629 million dollars (32.849 million euros) in its first fiscal quarter, closed in September, which represents an increase of 32% compared with the gains obtained by the Redmond giant in the same period of the previous year.

The company’s quarterly revenue reached 92.279 million dollars (82.757 million euros), 18.8% more year-on-year, driven by the strong advance of the Azure business, which rebounded 48.2%, to 33.165 million dollars (29.743 million euros).

"We had an excellent start to the fiscal year with Microsoft Cloud revenue of 63.900 million dollars, with growth that accelerated to 30% year-on-year," declared Amy Hood, executive vice president and chief financial officer of Microsoft, for whom the results "exceeded expectations" in terms of revenue, operating profit and earnings per share.

For his part, Satya Nadella, president and chief executive officer of Microsoft, emphasized that the company is providing its customers with more capacity, alternatives, control and cost efficiency across its platform.

"By helping organizations develop and manage their own intelligence, and by earning their trust through the security of their agents, we are transforming our innovation into growing adoption and real impact across all sectors," he added.
