Orange Cyberdefense has announced an alliance with the French company Mistral AI to incorporate advanced artificial intelligence into its cybersecurity services, through early access to a variant of the Mistral Large 4 model specifically optimized for protection operations and computer threat analysis.

The collaboration will make it possible to combine the capabilities of the artificial intelligence model with the experience of Orange Cyberdefense specialists and its threat intelligence systems, with the aim of expanding the applications of this technology to different phases of cybersecurity operations.

Among the priority areas are intrusion testing in computer systems, known as pentests, technical audits and the investigation and response to security incidents. The company has specified that these tools will be progressively incorporated into certain operational services it provides to its clients and that critical actions will remain under the responsibility of specialized professionals.

Artificial intelligence to detect vulnerabilities and investigate cyberattacks

The integration of Mistral Large 4 will allow Orange Cyberdefense to explore a greater number of attack scenarios during intrusion testing and technical audits, two procedures intended to assess the security of information systems.

In the area of incident response, the technology will be used to accelerate the analysis of logs and the reconstruction of computer attacks, facilitating investigations after a security breach.

The company has established that these uses will be subject to access controls, traceability mechanisms, model security testing and human oversight. In this way, critical decisions and actions will continue to depend on its experts, while artificial intelligence systems will act as complementary tools.

Likewise, the results and knowledge obtained during its application will contribute to improving the model and developing new defensive capabilities that can be audited.

The general director of Orange Cyberdefense, Hugues Foulon, has pointed out that the evolution of computer threats requires expanding organizations' response capabilities.

"When threats gain speed, they are industrialized and now automated, defense must change scale. Volume, speed, trust: these are the three challenges facing cybersecurity in the era of AI," he explained.

Foulon has highlighted that the collaboration will make it possible to build a European artificial intelligence specialized in cybersecurity, trained by its experts and used under their supervision, through the combination of the model’s capabilities with the company’s teams and its threat intelligence.

European infrastructure and technological sovereignty

One of the central elements of the agreement is the development and use of artificial intelligence solutions on infrastructures located in Europe, with the purpose of preserving control over the technology and the environments in which cybersecurity operations are carried out.

Mistral AI develops the Mistral Large 4 model and operates infrastructures in its own European data centers, while Orange Cyberdefense will resort to computing capabilities located in Europe to deploy models intended for its services.

According to both companies, this approach seeks to respond to the needs of organizations that use artificial intelligence in sensitive environments and require guarantees related to data protection, regulatory compliance and the resilience of their systems.

The cofounder and technical director of Mistral AI, Timothée Lacroix, has highlighted the shared objective of providing tools developed and operated in Europe.

"We are proud to partner with Orange Cyberdefense, one of the European leaders in cybersecurity, and to give it access to Mistral Large 4, a model with leading-edge capabilities in the field of cybersecurity. Together we share a goal: to offer European organizations a sovereign and trusted AI solution that allows them to defend themselves, designed and operated in Europe," he stated.

Orange Cyberdefense has specified that it will continue applying an independent approach in the selection of technologies, resorting to the solutions that best meet the needs of its customers in terms of security, data protection and regulatory compliance.

Orange Cyberdefense billed 1.300 million euros in 2025

The alliance brings together two European companies specialized in complementary technological fields. Orange Cyberdefense, a subsidiary of Grupo Orange, recorded revenue of 1.300 billion euros in 2025 and has more than 30 years of experience in cybersecurity services.

The company has more than 3,300 specialists distributed across 13 countries and 36 detection centers worldwide, from which it provides managed security, consulting, integration, and response to computer threats services.

For its part, Mistral AI specializes in the development of artificial intelligence models and solutions that allow companies and public institutions to design, customize, and operate systems in environments under their own control.

The collaboration contemplates a progressive integration of Mistral Large 4 into Orange Cyberdefense services, with special attention to improving the capabilities of detection, analysis, and investigation of threats through artificial intelligence tools subject to human supervision.
