Orange Cyberdefense has become the first European ally of the artificial intelligence company Mistral AI after closing a collaboration agreement aimed at the development of enhanced AI-managed security services.
According to what the company announced this Thursday, this strategic alliance will give Orange Cyberdefense early access to a specific version of the Mistral Large 4 tool, specially adapted to the group's advanced cybersecurity processes.
The joint work will focus on extending use cases along the entire value chain, from intrusion tests in information systems or 'pentests' to analysis and post-incident investigation.
The CEO of Orange Cyberdefense, Hugues Foulon, has emphasized that defense must scale to another level as threats accelerate, industrialize, and automate.
"With Mistral AI, we are building a European AI dedicated to cybersecurity, trained by our experts and operated under their control," he said.
For his part, the co-founder and technical director of Mistral AI, Timothée Lacroix, has stressed that both organizations share the goal of offering European entities a sovereign and reliable AI solution for their protection, conceived and operated in Europe.
In practice, solutions based on Mistral Large 4 will be progressively incorporated into the services managed by Orange Cyberdefense, always under strict human supervision, so that all critical actions continue under the direct responsibility of the specialists.
The Mistral Large 4 model is integrated into a clearly European strategy, deployed in data centers located on the continent itself.
Orange Cyberdefense, a subsidiary of the Orange group that recorded a turnover of 1.300 million euros in 2025, will use computing capacities located in Europe to operate these tools.
