The transactional market of Latin America accumulated until August a total of 1,457 mergers and acquisitions operations, both announced and completed, for a combined value of 67.372 billion dollars (58.702 billion euros).
According to the TTR Data report, these figures represent a year-on-year decline of 29% in the number of operations and a decrease of 3% in the mobilized amount. Only in August, 92 transactions were recorded, valued at 4.469 billion dollars (3.894 billion euros).
By volume of activity, Brazil led the ranking of the most dynamic markets in the region between January and August, with 834 operations (-32%) and an increase of 23% in the committed capital, up to 41.129 billion dollars (35.836 billion euros).
In second place was Chile, with 205 operations (-16%) and a reduction of 9% in value, down to 4.976 billion dollars (4.336 billion euros), followed by Mexico, which accumulated 166 transactions for 13.080 billion dollars (11.397 billion euros), representing declines of 17% both in number and amount.
In the case of Argentina, the number of 'deals' decreased by 7%, down to 164, although the committed capital rose by 49%, up to 6.064 billion dollars (5.284 billion euros).
Colombia ranked at the bottom of the ranking, with a contraction of 26% in operations (132), while the value increased by 56%, up to 10.844 billion dollars (9.448 billion euros). Peru closed the table with 82 transactions and an amount of 6.032 billion dollars (5.256 billion euros), representing a decrease of 15% in number and an increase of 125% in capital.
On the transnational level, August stood out for the investment dynamism of Latin American companies in other markets, especially in Europe, with 50 'deals', and in North America, with 28. Conversely, the companies that carried out the most strategic operations in Latin America came from North America (237) and Europe (192).
Breakdown by type of operation
Until August, 97 private equity operations were recorded for 10.359 billion dollars (9.026 billion euros), reflecting a decrease of 19% in volume and an increase of 59% in amount.
In venture capital, 224 transactions were recorded for 3.028 billion dollars (2.638 billion euros), a 41% decrease in number and a 2% increase in value. In addition, 366 asset purchases were closed (-2%) for 13.550 billion dollars (11.806 billion euros), a 5% decrease compared to the first eight months of 2025.
