Traveling by ferry in the autumn months allows for taking advantage of less tourist overcrowding and more adjusted prices on various connections, with discounts reaching 37% on some of the Mediterranean routes with the highest demand, according to a study conducted by Ferryscanner.
According to the records of the platform, the activity of Spanish passengers decreases by around 60% in autumn compared to summer. Despite this, the network of links continues to be extensive, with more than 600 operational routes and a total of 233 destinations served during autumn 2025.
The average cost per traveler was 42.40 euros in autumn, compared to 41.70 euros in the summer period. This slight upward variation is explained, according to Ferryscanner, by the greater weight that long-distance crossings acquire in these months. However, when analyzing the same routes, the fares were approximately 2% cheaper in autumn.
Among the connections with the greatest price cuts are Ios-Santorini, with a reduction of 37%; Santorini-Milos, with 20%; Barcelona-Ibiza, with 19%; Heraklion-Santorini, with 17%, and Barcelona-Mahón, with 16%.
In the specific case of Barcelona-Ibiza, the price difference has intensified in 2026: the cost of this route between September and August was reduced by 33%, according to the company's data.
The Greek islands continue to concentrate a very relevant part of the autumn demand, with Paros, Santorini, Naxos, Milos, and Mykonos among the most booked spots by Spanish tourists. The routes between the peninsula and the Balearic Islands also maintain a significant volume of traffic during this season.
"This reduction in activity that we register in autumn offers travelers greater flexibility to organize their getaways, avoid peak times, and enjoy some of the most popular summer destinations with greater tranquility," said Alexia Kotsi, Marketing Director of Ferryscanner.
