The building permits for new housing reached 49,863 units in the first four months of the year, representing an increase of 10.12% compared to the same period of the previous year, when 45,280 authorizations were recorded, according to data from the Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility collected by Europa Press.
Within this total, 9,522 permits corresponded to single-family homes, which represents an advance of 6.77% compared to the 8,918 recorded in the first months of the previous year. For its part, the statistics reflect that by April, 40,254 permits for block housing were processed, 10.7% more than in the same interval of the previous year.
The report also includes permits for 87 new construction projects in other types of buildings, a figure almost eight times higher than the eleven procedures recorded between January and April 2025.
According to the same statistics, the average area of single-family homes was 186.95 square meters, 0.75% less in year-on-year comparison, while that of block housing was 101.1 square meters, 3.85% below the average recorded a year earlier.
The latest update of this statistical series detailed the data corresponding to March and April. In total, during March, 13,076 new construction permits were granted (-1.16%), while in April, 10,901 authorizations were recorded (+189%).
