Velilla Group, a Spanish company dedicated to the design, manufacture and distribution of workwear and promotional textiles, has announced the new automated pallet storage platform at its logistics center located in Albacete.
The development of this infrastructure involved a total investment of 10,961,819 euros and included a grant of 1,425,036.47 euros under the Regional Incentives program for the Economic Promotion Zone of Castilla-La Mancha, which depends on the Ministry of Finance and is co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund (Feder).
The installation incorporates an automatic storage silo with a capacity for 22,000 pallets, organized into five aisles and equipped with five automated train cranes, as the company has detailed in a press release.
In addition, the logistics complex integrates a robot for automatic palletizing and another for depalletizing. The project began in July 2022, with a completion date initially set for January 2026, which was later extended to April 2026 thanks to an authorized extension.
With this initiative, Velilla Group has redefined its logistics processes, moving to operate with the pallet as a production unit, replacing the previous model based on the management of boxes, and significantly increasing the level of automation.
This change has made it possible to double storage capacity, which has evolved from around 300,000 to nearly 650,000 boxes, while also increasing efficiency both in receiving goods and in the simultaneous preparation of orders. The center now has capacity to maintain between six and ten months of stock.
The increase in capacity has enabled Velilla Group to support the growth of Mukua, its promotional textile brand.
The new platform is integrated into the logistics center that the company has in the industrial estate of Romica, with nearly 27,000 m2 built on a plot of 56,000 m2, considered the largest workwear textile warehouse in the Iberian Peninsula.
