The spokesperson for the PSOE in the Assembly of Extremadura, Isabel Gil Rosiña, has shown her rejection of the amendment to the Agrarian Law that proposes postponing the elections to the countryside in the region. As she explained, this change is included "on the sly" within the decree-law on aid to cherry growers, cereals, and beekeeping that the Junta approved last week in the regional Government Council.

Gil Rosiña has denounced that, through a single transitional provision and "by decree," the agrarian regulations are altered so that the elections to the countryside are not held in the year they correspond, something she considers "very serious" and with which the PSOE is flatly at odds.

"Where is it written that the elections to the countryside in Extremadura are incompatible with municipal elections?", the Socialist spokesperson has asked, who has demanded that the Junta explain what the "political objective" is that it pursues with this initiative.

In the press conference following this Tuesday's Board of Spokespersons at the Assembly, she criticized that "there is no reason to take advantage of that decree-law to insert into the provisions an amendment to the Agrarian Law so that the holding of the elections to the countryside is left sine die".

The PP defends the postponement so as not to overlap them with the municipal elections

From the Popular Group, its spokesperson, José Ángel Sánchez Juliá, responded to the Socialist deputy by recalling that during the 36 years of PSOE governments in Extremadura "they went fifteen years without calling the elections to the countryside" and that now she "raises the alarm" over a reform of the Agrarian Law that, in his view, should not generate controversy.

He detailed that the proposed amendment provides, in the first place, for the postponement of the countryside elections "for organizational reasons" to avoid them coinciding with the municipal elections, with the purpose that "the countryside be talked about and not politics be talked about".

The 'popular' spokesperson added that this approach has been communicated to the agrarian organizations and that, once the explanations have been conveyed, "they have seen that the considerations being made are fair". "End of the controversy," he concluded, also emphasizing that some of the organizations that initially protested have admitted that they did so before knowing all the details.

Demand for explanations over the "hacking" of SES data

In another matter, Gil Rosiña has called for "light and stenographer" from the regional Executive over the "hackeo" of data of 18,000 users of the SES recently known in Extremadura, and has advanced that the PSOE will ask for clarifications through a question in the plenary session of the Assembly next Thursday.

The socialist leader has pointed out that "from the day 5 when the theft of the data occurs it is not known by the affected themselves until day 29 when the arrest by the National Police of the alleged perpetrator of the facts takes place", something that, she emphasized, "is not a minor issue".

"It is not a minor issue. It is that here now serious things are happening and the Junta seems as if it has nothing to do with them", she censured. "The data of 18,000 users of the SES have been stolen and this is no joke", she insisted, reproaching the management that, in her view, the regional Government has carried out.

The Junta defends its action and appeals to police guidelines

For its part, the PP spokesperson has criticized the Socialist Group for trying to "generate fear" with this matter and has defended that the Junta de Extremadura has acted "with diligence and with responsibility", since the security systems of the Servicio Extremeño de Salud "worked".

According to Sánchez Juliá, "the attack was detected and intercepted immediately, and that achieved that only 1 % of the users of the Servicio Extremeño de Salud were affected". He added that the complaint was filed with the National Police as soon as knowledge of the incident was had, which made it possible to open an investigation that has culminated in the arrest of the alleged responsible party.

Likewise, he stressed that all those affected were informed at the moment when the judicial and police authorities authorized it, given that the case is subject to a judicial and police investigation whose guidelines, he assured, have been followed at all times by the regional Executive.
