The Health Commission of the Parliament of Navarra approved this Wednesday, with the support of UPN and PPN, the abstentions of PSN, EH Bildu, Contigo-Zurekin, and Vox, and the vote against of Geroa Bai, a resolution that urges the regional government to "immediately adopt all necessary measures to urgently and prioritarily resolve the breakdown of the elevator at the Health Center of Tafalla."
The text also includes a second point in which it asks the Navarrese Executive to "guarantee, while the breakdown persists, an accessible and adequate alternative that allows maintaining in Tafalla the healthcare activity of the specialties located on the upper floors, avoiding, whenever possible, new displacements of patients to Pamplona."
In a third section, the resolution demands the Government of Navarra to "include in the Investment Plan of the Department of Health the construction of a new Health and Specialties Center in Tafalla, with the corresponding schedule and necessary budget items." At this point, UPN, EH Bildu, and PPN have supported the proposal, while PSN, Contigo-Zurekin, and Vox have abstained and Geroa Bai has voted against again.
In the statement of reasons, the initiative presented by UPN denounces that the Health and Specialties Center of Tafalla has been suffering for years from a "progressive deterioration of its facilities" and "a lack of adaptation to the current needs of the population," a problem that has reached "a particularly serious point" with the breakdown of the elevator, which has forced the temporary transfer of some specialties' activity to Pamplona.
The proposing group emphasizes that incidents in the electrical supply, equipment breakdowns, and accessibility obstacles have become "a recurring reality" that "affects the normal functioning of healthcare activity," which is why it advocates for the creation of a new center "that is conceived as the healthcare infrastructure of reference for the entire Central Zone, with modern, accessible, functional facilities sized for the current and future needs of the population."
