The president of the PP, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, announced this Wednesday that, if he reaches the Presidency of the Government, in his first 100 days he will promote an Anti-occupation Law that allows evictions in 48 hours, a new Land Law, and a reform of the Horizontal Property Law. Along with this, he has advanced his intention to promote the construction of a million homes, apply tax deductions for tenants and property owners, and launch "the largest aid in history" for young people to access home ownership.

"I commit that in the first 100 days the Council of Ministers will approve three laws: The Land Law, the Law against occupation, and the Reform Law of Horizontal Property. This is a concrete commitment. 100 days, three legislative projects," Feijóo has pointed out, emphasizing that these legal texts are already drafted and that they will not "improvise" them. In his opinion, these initiatives will allow for modifying the "legal security" in Spain.

During an event focused on housing held in Seville, where he was accompanied by the president of the Junta de Andalucía, Juanma Moreno, Feijóo accused the head of the Executive, Pedro Sánchez, of "using the drama" of Maricarmen Abascal, the octogenarian woman evicted from her home who subsequently passed away, recalling that "he ignored that lady a year ago who sent him a letter detailing her problem and he put it in the drawer of Moncloa forever."

"I refuse to participate again in a new confrontation between owners and tenants and to divide Spaniards also at the expense of the housing crisis that the State has created," the leader of the PP has emphasized, defending that it is compatible to "give legal security to owners and protect the tenant."

In this context, he has announced that, for rental contracts that need to be renewed soon, his party will propose "to specify tax deductions for tenants and owners who extend their contracts for up to three years with rent increases below the Consumer Price Index (CPI). "This is going to be a contract, a fiscal contract," he asserted.

In relation to illegal occupation, Feijóo has assured that he feels "all the sensitivity with the citizen who complies and all the firmness with the scroungers." He considers that respect for private property is key to the functioning of the country and has promised that, with a PP Executive, "And with our Government, the squatters will be out in 48 hours," he exclaimed.

HE PROMISES "DIGNIFIED" HOUSING TO THOSE WHO ARE ON THE STREET

The popular leader has focused part of his speech on the situation of young people, guaranteeing that, if the PP governs, they will have "the largest aid in history to buy a home." "To understand it graphically, a young person who buys a home with an average price of 250,000 euros after five years of work can save 25,000 euros in taxes and would need 50,000 euros less to sign the mortgage," he explained.

After several weeks of mobilizations, such as the Sol camp, Feijóo has indicated that the purpose of his party, in case of coming to power, is that those who are "on the street protesting can have dignified housing when the legislature ends." "Our objective is very clear, indeed, to build a million homes in the next legislature," he added.

After the resignation of the PSOE spokesperson, Montse Mínguez, due to her partner's properties, the leader of the PP has maintained that the "approach of this campaign has been a whole lesson in socialist hypocrisy." "The speech of the spokesperson of the Socialist Party on housing is what Ábalos' speech was on corruption. They are incapacitated to solve the problem and disqualified to give any lesson," he emphasized.
