The Son Espases University Hospital has increased its staff by 8 percent in the last three years, reaching a total of 5,822 workers, according to a statement made this Sunday by the Ministry of Health.

This reinforcement of personnel means 441 more professionals compared to July 2023, consolidating the center as one of the main employers in the Balearic public health network.

The most notable growth during this period is concentrated in the categories of nurse and nursing auxiliary care technician, where 320 additional professionals have been incorporated. Thus, these categories have increased from 3,100 staff in July 2023 to 3,420 in July 2026.

At the same time, Son Espases has added 78 area specialist doctors, increasing from 864 physicians in 2023 to the 942 it currently has.

In these three years, the number of residents who are part of the hospital's staff has also increased. Specifically, 27 residents have been added, bringing the total to 327.

The Ministry has emphasized the "important effort" of the center to retain the residents who choose Son Espases to complete their specialized training. This year, 11 out of 16 residents who completed their specialty at the center have joined its staff.

According to Health, the Hospital has worked intensively to attract these 441 new professionals. The creation of these jobs reflects Son Espases' ability to retain its staff and ensure greater stability for public health workers, the department concluded.
