The Minister of Government of Ecuador, Nataly Morillo, communicated this Sunday that President Daniel Noboa and his wife, First Lady Lavinia Valbonesi, have lost the baby they were expecting after she had to undergo an urgent intervention due to complications during the pregnancy.
"With deep sorrow, I inform the country that the presidential family is going through the painful loss of their third child, Stefano Noboa Valbonesi. First Lady Lavinia Valbonesi underwent an emergency intervention due to a complication during her pregnancy. Unfortunately, Stefano passed away," Morillo stated in a message disseminated on her social networks.
The Government official wanted to express her support to the family of the head of State and has requested the citizenship to "respect, solidarity, and affection" in a context, she emphasized, of "deep sorrow." "For three days, the flag of the Carondelet Palace will remain at half-mast," she indicated.
For its part, the National Assembly of Ecuador has sent its condolences to the president and the First Lady after the news became public. Through its official profiles, the legislative body has shown its support and has sent a message of encouragement in light of the difficult situation they are facing.
