The National Institute of Health Management (INGESA) has communicated that between 09:00 hours on Wednesday and 09:00 hours this Thursday, 275 health care services have been carried out within the special device deployed due to the arrival of migrant people in Ceuta, emphasizing that the assistance activity remains "without relevant incidents."
In a note disseminated by the agency, dependent on the Ministry of Health, it is emphasized that health care continues normally under Level 1 of the External Disaster Plan, which allows addressing the situation with the already available resources, without currently requiring an immediate extraordinary reinforcement of personnel or materials.
The management and clinical leaders review the evolution of the device daily to organize shifts and anticipate possible needs, prioritizing on-site assistance in order to reduce the massive arrival of people at health centers and the hospital.
Primary Care and ambulance transfers
In the field of Primary Care, the teams have attended to 167 people. By centers, Health Center II (Otero) accumulated 95 assistances and Health Center III (Tarajal) carried out 28. The Primary Care Emergency Service (SUAP) recorded 18 assistances during its usual hours and the 061 teams added another 26 assistances.
Within the operation, 46 ambulance transfers have been made. Of these, nine corresponded to the Mobile Emergency Unit (UME), 13 to Basic Life Support (SVB) vehicles, and 14 to Non-Assisted Transport (TNA), in addition to 10 transfers managed by Red Cross ambulances.
Hospital activity and admitted patients
Regarding Specialized Care, the University Hospital of Ceuta recorded 108 assistances in the Emergency Service, maintaining activity normally and without patients in the observation area at the time of closing the report.
Currently, 33 patients linked to this device remain hospitalized. The distribution of these admissions places two people in Pediatrics, three in Obstetrics, eight in the surgical floor, and seven in medical hospitalization, while another 13 are in the emergency cluster set up as an extension. They also noted that at 09:00 hours on Thursday, there were no admissions in the ICU or Neonatology related to this situation.
Reinforcement of resources and recognition of staff
INGESA has emphasized that this "effective" response is possible because the health area has the "largest human and material resources in its history," after an 8% increase in staff despite the reduction of healthcare activity due to the border closure of 2020.
The institution has expressed its gratitude for the dedication and professionalism of "all the healthcare and non-healthcare professionals who participate in this extraordinary device." "The device will remain active as long as circumstances require it, with a permanent evaluation of the situation to adapt healthcare resources to existing needs," they concluded.
