The Parliament has urged the Government to progressively increase the resources allocated to the Health Research Institute of the Balearic Islands (IdISBa), with the aim of ensuring the stability of hiring and the consolidation of the professional career of researchers.
This request is part of a non-legislative proposal (PNL) unanimously approved this Friday in the Health Commission of the Parliament, defended by the PSIB deputy Carles Bona.
Likewise, the autonomous Chamber demands that the participation of IdISBa in state calls for attracting research talent be ensured, especially the Ramón y Cajal Program, in addition to safeguarding the necessary institutional and budgetary commitment to offer positions.
The initiative also demands defining a specific autonomous strategy to attract and retain research talent in the field of health research, with clear goals, a concrete timeline, and a forecast of financial allocation within the framework of the upcoming Budgets.
At the same time, the Government is asked to facilitate that the personnel linked to the institute can apply for state human resources programs and that its function as a reception center is guaranteed, thus avoiding the brain drain to other communities.
Another of the approved points proposes to strengthen the presence of IdISBa in other state and European human resources programs, including those of the Carlos III Health Institute, through the necessary institutional and technical support.
In addition, adequate spaces and infrastructures are demanded to be able to accommodate the arrival of new talent, along with the promotion of concrete incentive measures for attracting researchers to IdISBa. Among them, complementary remuneration improvements to state programs are contemplated, with the aim of increasing the competitiveness of the institute compared to other centers in the public research system.
Finally, the Parliament requests the Government of Spain to increase the financial allocation of the Annual Calls for Strategic Action in Health, aimed at financing aids, projects, and research contracts in the health field.
Free television in hospitals for patients without resources
In the same commission, another PNL has been addressed, presented by the PP deputy Rafael Nadal, which has moved forward with the abstention of MÉS per Mallorca and the support of the rest of the present groups.
The proposal demands that the Govern implement a subsidy or free service system for television in hospitals for medium and long-term patients who are terminal and have long stays and can prove a lack of resources.
In the same way, it is requested to coordinate this measure with hospital social services to ensure that it reaches the people who really need it, and it is suggested to evaluate its application and possible expansion based on the results obtained.
