The Ministry of Health of Lebanon has communicated this Wednesday that nearly 4,350 people have lost their lives and more than 12,300 have been injured since the Israeli Army began its offensive in the south of the country in March, in a context of intensification of Israeli attacks despite the ceasefire in effect.
According to the data released by the Emergency Operations Center of the Ministry of Health itself, the total number of deceased stands at 4,348, among them 135 health workers, while the injured already amount to 12,307, with 410 health professionals among the affected.
The majority of the fatalities are concentrated in the governorates of South Lebanon, Mount Lebanon, and Nabatiyé, in addition to the capital, Beirut, although deaths have also been recorded in the regions of Baalbek-Hermel and the Bekaa Valley.
The authorities have also specified that 130 people have died inside ambulances, mostly health personnel. They have added that 17 hospitals have suffered damage due to the attacks and that three centers remain out of service in the context of the current offensive.
On June 26, Lebanon and Israel reached, with the mediation of the United States, a principle of understanding that opened the door to a permanent ceasefire and contemplated the restoration of Lebanese sovereignty in the south of the country, in addition to the disarmament of the Shiite militia party Hezbollah, a condition that the group has completely rejected.
Since that moment, the Israeli Army has continued its operations, especially in the south of Lebanese territory, arguing the presence of Hezbollah infrastructure that would pose a threat to its forces. This same Wednesday, it has carried out new bombings in areas of the district of Nabatiyé.
