More than a hundred people have lost their lives due to a landslide caused by the collapse of a gold mine that occurred this Tuesday in the town of Zamboi, located in the border area between Cameroon and the Central African Republic (CAR).

According to local media reports, the authorities of Zamboi have recovered at least 107 bodies of workers from the open-pit mining operation, which suffered the collapse of a gallery that led to a large landslide.

The gold mine is located near the city of Garoua-Boulai, from where rescue efforts have been organized and directed to locate possible survivors who may still be trapped under the ground.
