The far-right party Alternative for Germany (AfD) clearly remains in the lead, with 30% of voting intention for future federal elections in Germany, initially scheduled for 2029, well ahead of the Christian Democratic Union (CDU), which stands at 18%.

AfD gains one percentage point compared to the previous measurement, while the CDU loses one. In third place are tied the Social Democratic Party of Germany (SPD) and the Greens, both with 14% support, while The Left reaches 10%, according to the Insa poll published by the newspaper "Bild".

This is the first occasion in this series of polls where AfD reaches 30% of voting intention, and also the first time that the CDU falls to 18%.

Behind them are the Alliance for Social Justice and Economic Rationality (BSW, formerly Alliance Sahra Wagenknecht) and the Free Democratic Party (FDP), each with 4% support, both remaining below the minimum threshold of 5%.

The poll also reflects an unprecedented level of disapproval towards the management of the current coalition government CDU/CSU-SPD led by Chancellor Friedrich Merz. Together, these formations would barely reach 32% of the votes. A possible alternative left-wing alliance between SPD, the Greens, and The Left would total 38%.

Another combination, formed by CDU/CSU-SPD-Greens, would achieve 46% support. In contrast, a coalition between CDU/CSU and AfD would reach 48% of the votes. The study was conducted based on 1,202 telephone and online interviews with eligible voters carried out between September 28 and October 2.
