The Israeli Army has once again violated the ceasefire in effect since June and this Wednesday has attacked with drones a locality in southern Lebanon, while Israeli forces simultaneously began demolition work in other areas.
The drone bombing took place in the small town of Kafra, in the Bint Jbeil district, which has been the scene of other Israeli military actions in the past at points such as Haddatha, Qantara, or Aita el Jabal, according to the Lebanese newspaper "L'Orient le Jour".
Additionally, a strong explosion has been perceived near Nabatiyé and Marjayún, and in Mansuri, in the Tyre governorate, the use of stun grenades has been reported, according to details provided by this well-known Lebanese media.
In the locality of Zautar el Charkiyé, in the Nabatiyé governorate, units of the Israeli Army have begun to demolish several of the buildings that remained standing after previous attacks, including the town hall, a public school, a nursery, and a medical center.
This has been denounced by local authorities, who have criticized that the Government and institutions of Lebanon have not acted to stop these actions despite the warnings issued in recent weeks.
"Unfortunately, we do not see any concrete action to save our locality and the south. Everyone remains silent, as if they were complicit in this destruction," they indicated in a statement, in which they insist that, despite these Israeli maneuvers, "they will not break the will" of the inhabitants to remain in the area.
Furthermore, the Lebanese Army has assured in another statement that, with these operations, Israeli forces "persist in their destructive approach to inflict the greatest possible damage to the towns and localities of the south, and prevent the restoration of stability."
"The Army continues to carry out its missions in the south, where it faces great difficulties as a result of these aggressions that hinder the completion of its deployment and the return of residents," it added, confirming the destruction of infrastructure previously reported by local authorities.
On June 26, Lebanon and Israel reached, with the mediation of the United States, a principle of understanding that lays the groundwork for a permanent ceasefire and contemplated the restoration of Lebanese sovereignty in the south of the country, as well as the disarmament of Hezbollah, a condition firmly rejected by the group.
Israel has invoked security reasons and Hezbollah's refusal to accept the agreement to justify the continuation of its military operations in southern Lebanon.
